ATLANTA, GEORGIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2010) - NBAA - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is offering improved AOG (aircraft on ground) turn times, optimized shipping costs and increased service levels for its North American customers with the relocation of a warehouse for new spare parts and line replaceable units (LRU) from Muskegon, Mich. to Memphis, Tenn. Raffaele Virgili, Vice President, Customer Service, made the announcement at a media briefing held during the National Business Aviation Association's 63rd annual meeting and convention (NBAA) in Atlanta, Georgia. P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. company (NYSE:UTX).
The Memphis Parts Distribution Centre, which opened in September, is operated by a leading logistics provider and will allow for P&WC customers to place parts orders until midnight EST for normal "next day" FedEx delivery, compared with the current 5 p.m. EST cut off time in the Muskegon location.
"Today, 40 percent of customer AOG orders are received between 5 p.m. and midnight EST and previously required courier service to ensure next day delivery," said Virgili. "With this new warehouse based in Memphis, the world hub for FedEx, customers will enjoy significant freight cost reductions and faster turn times. It's all part of our constant drive to optimize costs and enhance service performance for the benefit of our customers."
The new spare parts and LRU inventory at the Memphis Parts Distribution Centre primarily supports AOG requirements and line maintenance level orders for "over-the-counter" customers. Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions, located in Muskegon, will continue to stock material required to support repair and overhaul level activity and DPHM (Diagnostics, Prognostics and Health Management) customers. P&WC customers will continue to order all parts from Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions customer support representatives by dialing 1-800-872-1792 (in North America) or 231-799-6650 or online through the P&WC customer portal.
