LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 15, 2007) - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has received the Grand Prix in the large manufacturing company category at the 2007 Grands Prix quebecois de la qualite awards ceremony. Organized by the Mouvement quebecois de la qualite and the Quebec department of economic development, innovation and export trade, these awards are the highest distinction conferred by the Premier of Quebec to the best-performing private companies and government agencies. P&WC is a United Technologies (NYSE:UTX) company.

The Grand Prix recognizes P&WC for its commitment and leadership in integrating practices focused on quality, innovation and excellence. These practices have enabled the company to quickly become the engine manufacturer of choice in the business, regional and helicopter markets. As well, P&WC is pursuing its growth strategy with the development of a new-generation of "green" engine family for long-range corporate jets. This new family offers unmatched performance, while surpassing the most stringent environmental standards worldwide.

"We are passionate about continuous improvement and customer satisfaction," explains Alain M. Bellemare, P&WC President and Executive Vice President of P&W Group Strategy and Development. "Our commitment to excellence is deeply rooted in our culture."

At the event, Mr. Bellemare was also awarded an Exceptional Recognition for his outstanding contribution to the advancement of quality at P&WC, for his promotion of Quebec's excellence and for the company's influence in international markets.

"It's the work of a whole team dedicated to the ongoing pursuit of excellence and quality," stresses Mr. Bellemare. This Recognition was given by Quebec Premier Jean Charest, bringing the 2007 Grands Prix awards ceremony to a close.

P&WC's rigorous quality controls ensure the outstanding dependability of all its engines, which is the basis for its worldwide reputation. In 1998, the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) operating system was adopted and implemented throughout the company. ACE is now an integral part of P&WC's culture. This system streamlines processes, increases productivity and ensures the quality of products and services.

The Grands Prix quebecois de la qualite acknowledges private companies and government agencies that have instituted rigorous quality-improvement initiatives for all aspects of their operations and with exceptional results. The awards recognize world-class benchmarks, and are comparable to awards such as the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (U.S.), the European Quality Awards or the Deming (Japan).
