JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(CCNMatthews - April 18, 2005) - Pratt &
Whitney Canada CSC (Africa) Pty. Ltd. is expanding its engine
maintenance facility at Lanseria International Airport in Johannesburg,
South Africa, to begin offering comprehensive PT6A engine overhaul
services to operators in central and southern Africa.
The expansion project, scheduled to be completed by the end of September
2005, will include refurbishing and adding maintenance space at the
2,045 square-metre facility, reconfiguring an advanced onsite engine
test cell, and hiring additional highly skilled maintenance
professionals and support staff.
"This significant investment reflects our firm commitment to supporting
our growing customer base in central and southern Africa," says Juergen
Pilot, Director, CSC Africa. He notes that there are more than 800 PT6A
engines in operation in the region in corporate, military and airline
applications. "We are transferring the necessary technology to ensure
that we can offer our customers the very highest standards of overhaul
capabilities," Mr. Pilot adds.
P&WC CSC (Africa) Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of P&WC CSC
Europe GMBH, a joint venture of Pratt & Whitney Canada and MTU/Germany.
The South African facility has operated since 1996 and is conveniently
located on Lanseria International Airport in South Africa. This fly-in
facility offers maintenance support for the JT15D engine series, full
maintenance, repair and overhaul support for the PT6 engine series,
including a test cell.
