Media Advisory, 19th Edition of Les Femmeuses Art Exhibition and Sale Presented by Pratt & Whitney Canada: 90 Women Artists Unite in Support of Women and Children Victims of Family Violence

Apr 21, 2005 - 00:00 AM

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - April 21, 2005) - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) will launch the 19th edition of Les Femmeuses art exhibition and sale at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at its head office, 1000 Marie-Victorin Blvd. in Longueuil. Mrs. Clemence DesRochers, Honorary Chairperson since 1988, as well as event spokesperson Mrs. Lorraine Pintal, General Manager and Artistic Director of Theatre du Nouveau-Monde, will be on hand for the inaugural ceremony.

Les Femmeuses, which raised a record $175,000 last year, will feature about 150 signed works by some 90 well-known or emerging professional women artists in the visual arts during the April 23-24 weekend at the same P&WC location, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to buy quality artwork while contributing to a worthy cause. A limited edition original print created specially for the event by artist Ann McCall will also be available for sale.

Attended by 5,500 visitors last year, Les Femmeuses art exhibition and sale is organized to support women and children who are victims of family violence. Since its inception in 1986, this P&WC initiative has made it possible to contribute close to $900,000 to the following seven shelters: Carrefour pour Elle in Longueuil; La Cle sur la porte in Saint-Hyacinthe; La Maison Simonne Monet-Chartrand in Chambly; La Re-Source in Chateauguay; Maison Hina in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu; Maison La Source in Sorel-Tracy; and Pavillon Marguerite de Champlain in Saint-Hubert.
